Kathryn (Kathy) E. Roerig Moore was born in Fort Collins, Colorado on July 24, 1935, and died on November 25, 2023, in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. As her father was a Captain in the U.S. Army, Kathy spent time in Washington, Alabama, Oklahoma, and Kansas before returning to North Denver prior to World War II. As they were both teachers, they lived in Sugar City, Colorado teaching school. After the arrival of their first child, they relocated to Arvada where they raised four children.
A stay-at-home mom until the youngest was in Jr. High School, Kathy was very involved with the children’s education and served on the PTA, volunteering as a crossing guard before and after school. Returning to the workforce, she worked several temporary jobs until landing at the Bureau of Reclamation. Kathy would work for the Bureau for 35 years, retiring at the age of 80.
Kathy was a dedicated, lifelong member of Highlands United Methodist Church, attending church as a child with her grandmother, Mother and sister. Tom and Kathy would raise their children at HUMC. Kathy served in a multitude of ways at the church teaching Vacation Bible School, a member of United Methodist Women, a Communion Steward, member of the choir and serving on Board of Trustees, Finance and Staff Parish Relations committees.
