Obituary of Chief Warrant Officer Donald W. Widman Ret. U.S. Army
Chief Warrant Officer 4 Donald W. Widman, 89, died peacefully in his Colorado Springs home surrounded by family on the night of October 31, 2023. Donald was a brave and loyal soldier who served in the Vietnam war with two tours and his military decorations include the Legion of Merit and Bronze Star medal.
Chief Widman was born in Seneca, KS. In 1958, he joined the armed forces and started his military career of 37 years, 34 years active duty, and took him all over the world to include the Panama Canal, South Korea, Germany and Colorado to name a few. Chief Widman retired from the military in 1993 and promptly went into ‘retirement’ three separate times with government contractors.
Chief Widman was a brave and loyal soldier, as well as a loving father to 6 children. He married Ok Sun in 1991. Don was a natural mechanic and shared his love of tools and procedures with his soldiers, superiors and kids.
A military burial will take place November 14 officiated by Chaplain Tracy Hilts.
