OBITUARY for

Angelina Buonassissi

 

Angelina (Angie) Buonassissi, was born July 20, 1927, at St. Joseph Hospital in Paterson, New Jersey.

She was the second child born to Salvatore and Asunta (Romeo) Buonassissi, and joined her older sister Grace. 

After graduating Livermore Union High School in 1944, Angie went to work at Cresta Blanca Wine Company.  She met the love of her life, Joe Buonassissi in Livermore, California shortly after his return from his NAVY service in WWII.  They married July 3, 1947, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Livermore, California.   

Angie joined Joe after his return to the Service, this time the Air Force. Sometimes she would accompany him on his assignments, and other times provided her love and support from afar. With Joe’s military assignments, Angie often found herself raising their 3 children on her own. Angie said some of her favorite memories were from during the time Joe was stationed in Alaska. Angie loved their many adventures. 

Angie, and Joe, were members and active participants in many organizations along their journey.  Where one went, the other one also went.  From the Ladies Auxiliary of Joe's clubs to distinguished positions in her groups.  To name just a few are: The Knights of Columbus, The Optimists Organization, The Lions Club, The Red Hat Society, and numerous military "wives" clubs and charities throughout the 50's and 60's. Angie and Joe enjoyed 69+ years of married life. 

Angie also pursued a professional career of her own, working in a top-secret military position for the Air Force Base Commander in Virginia. This position came later in their life's adventure when her children were in Junior and High School.  Unlike the days when she traveled from Virginia to California by way of Texas in a family move with 2 toddlers and a newborn infant!  Those were the days she used to say! 

Angie wanted people to know she had a wonderful life.  She passed into the arms of our Lord and joined her beloved and devoted husband Joe on October 28, 2023.   

She is survived by 3 children: Joseph II (Bonnie), John (Betty), and Susan; 3 grandchildren (Christopher, Gabriel, and Jacqueline), and 2 great-grandchildren. 

Her funeral will be Thursday, November 17, 2023, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Aurora. 

Her burial will be held in a private ceremony at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
