Obituary of Mary Jean R McDonald

Mary Jean R McDonald passed away peacefully on Wednesday October 18th, 2023, at the age of 72.

She was born on December 6th, 1950, in LaMars, IA. to Frank and Louise Grothe.

Jean was the bright light in a storm to so many. She always believed giving a smile, a laugh, or a kind word could change the world even if it was just for a minute and she gave these things willingly to everyone she met. Jean loved the beauty of this world and loved to explore new places. She loved the songs of the birds, the grace of the flowers, and warmth of the sun. Her love for animals and nature was endless.

Jean loved her family and friends with a strength that was like no other. Her love was unconditional, unwavering, and surrounded everyone with a sense of belonging and joy. She was always thinking of little things she could do to bring happiness to the ones she loved. It would be impossible to list everything she selflessly did for so many. Her love and friendship will never be forgotten. She was a strong, beautiful woman and to be part of her life was a gift given by God.

She is survived by Harry McDonald, her loving husband, her rock, her hero, and her soulmate.

Her daughters Charissa Banton, Laura Settoon, and Heather Radovich. Her granddaughters, Lily Settoon, and Amanda Loyd. Her grandsons, Trace Settoon, and Matthew Radovich. Also, by many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. She was preceded to heaven by her sister, Joyce Schemmel and her grandniece, Patricia Britt.
