Carlos David Montaño, 69, of Littleton, Colorado died peacefully on September 3, 2023. He was surrounded by his wife of 45 years, Pamela, and their three daughters, Destany, Stephanie, and Sophia.
Carlos was born in Clovis, New Mexico on August 26, 1954 to Jose E. and Sophia B. Montaño. He grew up with three brothers and three sisters and was the youngest of the seven siblings. After graduating from Clovis High School, he joined the Army and was stationed in Colorado Springs where he ultimately met the love of his life, Pam. Carlos and Pam were married in Colorado Springs in 1977. They raised their daughters in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and in 1998, moved the family to Littleton, Colorado. Carlos retired in 2017 from the VA Hospital after 44 years of service. In these last years of retirement, he never missed a garage sale, a new movie at the theater, or Sunday Football. The only thing he loved more than watching the Denver Broncos win, was watching the Dallas Cowboys lose. He enjoyed tending to his salsa garden, and his passion for cooking fed the ones he loved most. His famous Red and Green Chile will be missed. Carlos was loved by everyone, and his outgoing, entertaining personality left a mark that will live on forever.
With all the happy moments and friendships in Carlos’ life, it was the love of his family that he cherished most. He was the best Grampy. His daughters gave him five beautiful Grandchildren: Deegan, Cassius, Thiago, DJ, and Rosa Joy.
Carlos is survived by his wife Pamela, daughters Destany and husband David Fry, Stephanie and husband Marcos Chavira, Sophia and husband Tony Clemenger, brother Aurelio “Goldie” Montaño and wife Connie, and sister Rose Plaza and husband Ray, and many beloved nephews and nieces. Carlos is preceded in death by his Father and Mother Jose and Sophia Montaño, Sister and Brother-In-Law Sally and Reynaldo Romero, Brother and Sister-In-Law Dale and Marcy Montaño, Sister Patsy Montaño, and Brother Jody Montaño.
