Obituary of Jennie L Cardenas Nevares

Jennie L. Cardenas (Nevares) passed away at her home surrounded by family on August 4th of 2023. She was born in Stockton, California to Lydia (Larra) and Nicholas Salas. She had 11 brothers and sisters. Jennie lived in California her entire childhood but later moved to Colorado around 1989 and has lived here ever since.

Jennie and her family were descendants of Apache, Navajo and Comanche Native Americans. She and her 3rd husband Cris were married on the Utah and Arizona border near an Indian Reservation. She loved collecting anything related to the culture and wolves, which were her favorite animals.

Jennie was well known by many, as a hard worker and someone who always kept a clean home. She would often be found washing dishes or cleaning up in the middle of family functions, even if it wasn’t in her own home. She worked for several companies as a Housekeeper or janitor. Some of those companies include Denver Health, where she worked for 6 years, and Red Rocks Community College, Arapahoe Community College and The Holiday Inn.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was an amazing cook and made the best tortillas and stuffed sopapillas. She could often be found dancing, and it didn’t matter where, as long as there was good music. She loved taking rides on her husband's Harley, traveling and camping. When her grandchildren were younger she made sure to have companions for them. She loved dogs and cats alike and would train them to all live together. She also liked her plants which suited her well as she had an amazing green thumb.

She is survived by her loving husband Cristobal Nevares of their family home. She is also survived by her children from her 1st marriage: Jimmy (Liane) Valdez, Anthony (Michelle) Valdez and Yvonne (Richard) Valdez. Her step children from her 2nd husband: Paul Trujillo and Marie Montoya. And her stepchildren from her marriage to Cris: Christina and Harley. She will be missed by her grandchildren Christine (Cortez), Joseph, Anthony Jr., Celestina, Richard Jr., Elias, Nevaeh, Rikki, Joalla, Christiano, Leviathan and Mathias, Paul Jr, (Kelsey), Lisa, Brianna (Melissa), Jordan, and Maria.
