Obituary of Penelope Ann Logan
Penelope Donahue Logan (Penny) died peacefully on July 5, 2023. Mourning her loss are daughter and son-in-law Lael Logan & Joshua Bevans and grandchildren Maggie & Auden of Denver, CO; son Luke Logan of Chicago; sister and brother-in-law Janine & Ronald Larson of Ashburn, VA; niece and family Corey & Tim Lawson and great-nephews Kyle & Tanner of Leesburg, VA. Penny’s husband, Rev. William Omar Logan, passed away in Palm Coast, FL in 2020. She also leaves behind a host of relatives and loving friends across the country. Penny was born and raised on the west side of Chicago and graduated from Austin High School and Southern IL University, Carbondale. Known for her sense of humor & love of adventure, she served in the American Red Cross in Korea & Vietnam in 1965. In 1969 she became the director of the first USO lounge at Chicago’s O’Hare airport. Penny never stopped traveling the world, working for TWA and later United Airlines. Perhaps her defining characteristic was her many loyal and long friendships. Described by one friend as a “rip snorting good time,” Penny was always up for an adventure. Whether it was seeing how many movies you could watch in the theatre in one day, dancing to “Hang on Sloopy” over & over late into the Singapore night, or flying to Paris for the weekend, Penny knew how to enjoy life and how to share that joy with others. A Celebration of Life will be held at Balfour Riverfront Park, 1500 Little Raven St., Denver on August 18, 2023 at 4:00 PM.
