Obituary of Frank Ray Williamson Jr.

Frank Ray Williamson Jr., 74, of Arvada, Colorado, passed away on May 25, 2023. Ray, as he was known, was born in Denver, Colorado, on February 16, 1949, to Frank Ray Williamson Sr. and Margaret Savage Williamson. Ray grew up in Commerce City, Colorado. He was active on the swim team at Adams City H.S. and enjoyed riding his Vespa scooter with his cousins. He played the cornet trumpet in the band at school and the bass guitar with friends in a rock band, the Ullrs. He married Frances Richardson in 1976, and they had two children, Angela and Scott. Ray and Fran were married for 46 years, and lived in Arvada, Colorado for most of those years, except for one year in 1979-80, where he pastored a Baptist church in Pekin, Illinois. He was also the Associate Pastor at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Arvada for many years. He enjoyed singing in worship to God, and encouraging friends and fellow church members in the LORD whenever he could speak a word of love, truth and light. In the 1990's Ray got back into cycling on Honda Goldwing bikes, taking Fran along with him on many excursions, in Colorado, Mt. Rushmore, and the west coast. Ray accepted Jesus as his savior on July 4th, 1973. From that time forward he dedicated his life and purpose to knowing the Lord and making him known, and was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church at the time of his death. Ray is survived by his wife, Fran Williamson, daughter, Angela (and Robin) Aijian, granddaughters Madeleine and Lucy Aijian, and son Scott Williamson.

A memorial service will be held at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 5140 Carr St. Arvada, Colorado on Thursday June 8 at 10:30 AM with a lunch reception to follow.
