Obituary of William Robert Hamilton
William Robert Hamilton of Florissant, Colorado died August 24, 2022 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Bill was born September 5, 1940 in Starkville, Colorado to Norville and Violet (Zanotelli) Hamilton. He is survived by his wife Christina Anderson, his high school sweetheart; son Craig Hamilton, granddaughters Nicole and Kristen Hamilton, grandson Simon Hamilton, and great grandson Kingston; sister Florine Downare and her family; stepson Randy Clayton and wife April; stepson Ray Clayton and wife Ann; step grandchildren Cody Clayton, Kyle Clayton, Andrea Brumbaugh, and Tyler Clayton; and step great grandsons Jon, Elliot, and Bret. He was preceded in death by daughter Rhonda Hamilton Tibbets, brother Larry Hamilton, and wife Lillian Elizabeth Cronquist Hamilton.
Bill’s younger years were spent in Trinidad, Colorado and northern New Mexico. While working at his mother’s diner he developed a very strong work ethic. The family moved to the Denver area when Bill was nine. He was a high school athlete, playing football, basketball and baseball, and dreamed of being a coach. He worked as a golf caddy while in junior high and high school. He served in the US Army in Korea. As an adult, Bill worked at Martin Marietta in Denver. Soon his father-in-law hired him to work in drywalling. He started in housing construction and many years later ended as a superintendent of commercial construction for Heggem-Lundquist. Bill and his wife Liz owned and operated Jarre Canyon Mart in Sedalia before moving to the Florissant area and pursuing the casino business in Cripple Creek.
A memorial service and burial will be held at Ft Logan National Cemetery, 3898 S. Sheridan Blvd, Denver, Colorado 80235 on September 22, 2022 at 10 o’clock.
