Obituary of Gwendolyn Shirlene Dix
Gwendolyn Shirlene Dix
Gwendolyn Shirlene Dix (Shirley) Age 73 of Arvada, went to be with the Lord on October 13, 2021.
Shirley was born on January 10, 1948 in Walker, Alabama. She lived in Alabama until she was 3 years old when her family moved to Colorado.
She loved many things in life, such as, Elvis music, the Food Network & cooking, beading and traveling with family. But more than anything else she loved her family. When she was beading, she made many beautiful jewelry pieces that she loved gifting to others. Shirley was a great cook and made MANY wonderful dishes but if you ask her kids and grandkids what their favorite meal was, they all would say, “her homemade chicken noodle soup”!
Shirley worked for 22 years at the Colorado Department of Health, where she was loved and made many lifelong friends. She was always willing to help anyone that needed it and always had a kind or encouraging word. Even though she lived her life in pain she never complained. Even though it's hard that she is not here on earth with us and we will miss her, we also know that she is no longer in pain and living in a better place.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Carl & Jackie Sutton, and her mother in law and father in law, Pete & Martha Dix.
She is survived by her loving and wonderful husband Kenneth Dix; 4 children: Carla (Scott) Randall, Billy (Heather) Thompson, Thomas (Kelley) Thompson and Daniel (Ann) Dix; 2 brothers: Dale (Chris) Sutton and Byron Sutton; 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
