Barbara J. McClure passed away in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on September 23, 2021.
She was preceded in death in 2001 by her husband Wayne, the love of her life..
Born in Pueblo, Colorado in 1932, she recently celebrated her 89th birthday with all three of her children Susan (Dave), Leesa (Bob), and Michael (Elizabeth). In the final few weeks of her life, she also spent time with her three grandchildren Kelsey, Haley, and Trevor as well as her three great grandchildren.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother especially exemplified by the sacrificial care she gave her husband during his long fought battle with the effects of diabetes. Barbara was an excellent student graduating from Centennial High School in Pueblo and going on to complete many college courses. She was an accomplished poet and writer with several of her articles and poems published in Christian periodicals such as Decision magazine. The Soggy Doggy is her self-published book of poems for children enjoyed for decades by those of all ages and recently gaining attention from the staff and her fellow residents at MacKenzie Place.
Barbara had a heart for serving others throughout her life whether by blessing them with her homemade cinnamon rolls and orange bow knots or by volunteering at numerous non-profits. Girl Scouts of America, Women's Aglow, Penrose Hospital, Big Brothers/Big Sisters Program, Dave Dravecky's Outreach of Hope are among the many organizations which benefited from her hours of service. Barbara most wanted to be remembered for her love and devotion to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Her family and friends take comfort in knowing that she is rejoicing in heaven in His presence and reuniting with the loved ones who have gone before.
A private family graveside service is planned at Ft. Logan cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara's memory may be made to Heart Ranch in Hilo, Hawaii, one of her favorite charities dedicated to helping struggling children and sharing the Gospel.
