Obituary of Andrew Patrick Manion
My beloved husband of 25 years transitioned to Tir na nÓg (the Celtic afterlife) September 24, 2020 at home while I held his hand.
He spent his childhood in Scotland and Grays Ferry (South Philly). Then it was on to Okinawa and Georgia for his teens. After a short but fulfilling Merchant Marine adventure he enlisted in the Air Force. He spent his enlistment in Rome, New York then Germany. At the request of the government he extended his service in support of Operation Desert Shield/Storm.
He spent the next 20 years as an addiction counselor working with teens to get their lives back on track. He was a well loved counselor who easily connected to his clients. I’ve been stopped on the street while walking the dog by a former client who said he owed his life to Drew.
We spent 22 years in beautiful Golden, Colorado where he loved walking the dogs, hiking, gardening and bird watching. In his spare time he played the Bhodran (Irish drum) with Mondragon
He was a beautiful, loving, witty and intelligent man who left us too soon. He is survived by his wife, Julie; his brothers Michael, David and Douglas; and his sisters Laura and Leigh.
In lieu of flowers there is a GoFundMe set up in his name for funeral expenses.
The military honors service is on October 13th 2:15pm at Ft. Logan Cemetery, staging area C. Masks required.
Please join us immediately after for a Celtic Music Session at Clancy’s Irish Pub, 7000 W. 38th Avenue, Wheat Ridge. The front patio will be reserved and COVID restrictions in place. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Andrew Manion, please visit Tribute Store
